Summer is right around the corner which means it is time to start thinking about what your little ones will be doing with their time off. No parent enjoys watching their kid sit at home for a couple of months glued to their iPads and video games. Lucky for you as a Seattle parent, there is a plethora of excellent summer camps that will actually get your kids excited to unplug. Here are a few of my favorites for the summer of 2019.
KidsQuest Children’s Museum Summer Camp
Children ages 3-8 are invited to explore the world of science and art through a variety of fun experiments and activities at the KidsQuest Children’s Museum Summer Camp. Children are split into different groups depending on their age so that they get the most out of their camp experience. Flexible full or half-day schedules are offered at two different locations…the KidsQuest Children’s Museum and Bear Creek School Valley Campus. Special accommodations are available for those needing extra attention or help with tuition assistance.
Rainbow Parrot Art Camp
West Seattle’s premier art studio, Rainbow Parrot Art, is offering summer camp sessions for children in grades K-6. Each session is held at the Seattle Lutheran High School over the course of four mornings. Children will learn how to tap into their creativity through unique and fun art projects that change each week. The founder of Rainbow Parrot Art, Lacey Reuter, personally teaches each class, ensuring attendees receive the best instruction during their time at the camp. With all art materials provided, children just need to bring their imagination for an art extravaganza.
First Tee Of Summer Golf Camp
Summer is the perfect time for kids to learn how to play golf while enjoying the beautiful weather that makes living in Seattle so ideal. Over the course of eight weeks, campers will learn the ins and outs of golf while being taught by some of the best instructors in the Pacific Northwest. The camp runs from June 18-August 11 with open registration starting on April 23. A flexible schedule and several convenient locations make this a great way for kids of all skill levels to learn the game of golf.
Seattle YMCA Summer Camps
YMCA Summer Camp registration has begun for both Camp Colman and Camp Orkila, where children of all ages will go on adventures by participating in a variety of activities including swimming, boating, arts and crafts, archery, and more. Teens can also join in on the fun with the Teen Leadership Camps at Camp Colman. After a day full of activity, campers will bond with their friends over a few campfire songs. Everyone is welcome at the YMCA Summer Camp, which is why they offer financial assistance and special accommodations for those in need.
